Abstract Presently, nearly every major firm in the marketing research industry conducts some form of research using the Internet. This was not the case as recently as 1996. The World Wide Web, which has fueled much of the growth of the network, has only been in existence less than six years. Yet, there are now people predicting that the majority of research in the future will be conducted using the Internet is some way. Many activities have already taken place up to this point in trying to utilize the Internet for research purposes. I expect the Internet to impact the research business in a significant way in the near future. This discussion is divided into two parts: (1) current Internet research techniques, and (2) the future of Internet research.
